From the Schwarzsee cable car station, the path leads up along the glacier adventure trail. It crosses at the foot of the Matterhorn before continuing upwards. It continues towards the Trockener Steg cable car station. From there follow upwards and left around the lake above the station. You will soon have the Gandegg Hut in sight.

The Breithorn is a five-peaked, from west to east running, strongly glaciated glaciated mountain ridge in the Valais Alps. Further to the east follow the middle summit (Breithorn Centrale, 4,159 m.a.s.l.) and the Breithorn twins. The Breithorn ridge ends in the east with the Schwarzfluh (Roccia Nera, 4'075 m.a.s.l.).
